Best Decision We Could Have Made!

"Two young precious girls bounced around a lot of bad homes.  Their mom had a substance abuse problem and their father was not very interested in being responsible for their care.  They were my husband’s cousins, and they were twelve and fifteen years old.  When they came to our home to visit, as they often did, they told us that they wanted to stay for good this time. They told us about the bad things that had happened in their multiple homes with multiple caregivers. I knew we needed help; we needed a lot of it and fast.  The thought of going to court and battling for custody in a long drawn out process terrified me.  I prayed for God to send us helpful people through the process that were about to embark on.

When I met Matthew Sheasby, I knew God had heard my prayers. I was intimidated by filing the paperwork correctly, speaking in front of the judge, and not knowing what going to court would be like. Hiring Matthew and his team was the best decision we could have made in the whole process.  It brought my husband and I a lot of peace to know that we had someone on our side, to speak for us, to reassure us, and to let us know what to expect through everything.  We felt secure in knowing that someone really cared about our girls, who we were fighting so hard for.  I never felt like we were just another case file. Matthew and his team always treated us with kindness and empathy.

We won custody of the girls and they are safe now.  They are working very hard in school, making new friends, and getting all of the medical and dental care that they need.  They are growing to be strong, loving, kind, happy young ladies.  Fighting for custody to keep children safe is an unbelievably stressful and scary situation.  It is a situation that we would never want to do all by ourselves.  We are so grateful for everything that the team did for us. The work that they do matters.  It changed our lives and brought these children to the safe and stable home where they belong."
