Biography

I grew up in Oklahoma but spent ten years living in Boston, where I graduated summa cum laude in 2001 with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Statistics from Boston University. After receiving my M.A. in Psychology, also from Boston University, I realized that my true desire was to attend law school after seeing how legal complications could have devastating effects on people’s lives. I craved the mountains and everything else Colorado has to offer, so I decided to move across the country. I moved to Boulder and received my J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2010 and have been practicing law and enjoying Colorado since then.

In law school, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to participate in two clinics, the Family Law Clinic and the Criminal Defense Clinic. It was there that I realized I had a passion for helping people through very difficult times. I successfully represented indigent clients at hearings, mediations, and at trial.

After I graduated from law school, I worked at two prominent Denver law firms. My legal practice focused on complex commercial litigation at both the trial and appellate level.

After working for more than 3 years in civil litigation, I went through a painful divorce, and through that experience realized I wanted to go back to practicing family law and supporting people who are going through this emotionally difficult time. My background in psychology, my personal experience going through a divorce, the satisfaction I felt through my involvement with the family law clinic in law school, and my compassion for people draws me to this field of work.

I served as a magistrate (judicial officer) in Boulder County District Court in an exclusively family law docket. My ability to counsel clients away from unreasonable positions and work with the opposing counsel or opposing party collaboratively typically results in clients being able to settle disputed issues before they end up in court. However, should your case be forced into a contested hearing, I have the experience and knowledge to be your strongest advocate before the judge. Not only am I quick on my feet in the courtroom, but I understand the perspective of judicial officers and what they look for when making decisions. I will use my skills to put you in the best position to achieve an outcome that is in your best interests.

In addition to practicing law, I am also involved in the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the South Asian Bar Association, the Colorado Women’s Bar Association, and the Colorado Bar Association.

In my spare time, I enjoy ballroom dancing, skiing, hiking, and spending time with my family.
